From every fairy tale ending with marrying a handsome prince to fantasizing about that designer wedding dress, woman are taught to look forward to marriage from a very early age. But what happens when we actually get to the altar? When it comes to getting married, we’re inundated with outside ideas about what a wedding should entail courtesy of our parents, friends, media, religion and traditions. We’ve also allowed vast consumerism and vanity to overtake the original intent of a wedding – announcing the dedication and love of two people. History plays a huge role in creating the wedding traditions some modernized and some obsolete and as women we are the most susceptible to the disadvantages that these traditions emit. The Feminist Bride aims to be a voice for independent women who seek to modernize marriage, promote equality, break down double standards, and to walk down the aisle to their own tune.
